On Tuesday, April 16, the IT Innovation + Research team hosted a field trip for over 50 attendees that were part of the Confluence Thought Series.
The field trip highlighted the X>STUDIO and futurEDlab at GVSU which is located in the John G. Russel Consumers Energy Leadership Center.
At the field trip, GVSU faculty and staff provided a tour of the X>STUDIO and futurEDlab, featuring cutting edge tools used to create real-time digital twins utilizing volumetric video, 3D visualizations, extended reality (XR) experiences, and visions of an augmented reality (AR) infused campus of the future.
Here are a few of the technologies showcased at the field trip:
- Apple Vision Pro – XR spatial computing headset
- Microsoft HoloLens – AR headset
- Manus Prime 3 – haptic gloves
- Valve Index – XR headset
- Meta Quest 3 – XR headset
- zSpace – 3D immersive learning laptop
- Insta360 – 360 camera
- XReal Air 2 – AR glasses
- Extended Reality (XR) – Applications created in the Unity development platform and Uptale spatial learning platform
- Soar – Volumetric video capture system with Microsoft Azure Kinect depth cameras
